Meet Wick Simmons, 2012 Scholarship Recipient
Wickliffe Simmons is a cellist from Atlanta, GA who is currently in the 11th grade at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. He will be using his scholarship to attend Meadowmount School of Music of Society for Strings, Inc. this summer. Please join us in congratulating Wickliffe and wishing him the best this summer and in the future as he builds his music career.

What are your aspirations in your art form and/or career aspirations?
Ideally, I would like to have a great performing career, but I am also interested in teaching music at a conservatory level.
What do you do for fun? Do you have any interesting or unusual hobbies?
Well for me, playing music is the greatest and most enjoyable thing to do. I used to do a lot of acting in school plays and musicals, which I believe helped me grow a lot performing with the cello. But right now, I like watching good movies, talking about world issues, meeting new people, running, going to youth orchestra, festivals/seminars in the summer time, and "thinking about the wonders of life."
What is something unique about you that you would like people to know?
My uncle told me once that it was remarkable that I have seen so much of the world before my 18th birthday. My travel experiences have shaped the way I look at the world, which I think is quite different in many ways from my peers.
