Luisa Quintão Frade

2025 Media Arts Scholarship Recipient

Luisa, a dedicated young artist from Brasília, Brazil, has pursued her passion for drawing and storytelling since the age of five, when she first felt the thrill of imagining and creating characters. What began as childhood sketches evolved into a clear artistic mission: to bring characters and stories to life through her own vision. Her desire to become an artist solidified when she illustrated a children's book—an experience filled with both fear and pride as she completed twenty original illustrations that honored her inner child’s dreams.

As a self-taught artist, Luisa has faced numerous challenges that only deepened her drive to grow. Her commitment has led her to explore 3D art, animation, painting, and both cartoon and realistic styles. This exploration culminated in a major milestone when she won first place in Full Sail University’s 3D Character Design Contest, the result of tireless effort and unwavering focus. The experience reinforced her belief in the power of perseverance and creativity.

Now, with support from the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Luisa will attend the Pratt Institute’s Summer Pre-College Animation program. She sees this opportunity as essential to refining her skills, expanding her storytelling abilities, and transforming a lifelong passion into a professional artistic journey.
