Elle Cho

2025 Instrumental Scholarship Recipient

Elle Cho, a sixteen-year-old violinist from Park Ridge, Illinois, grew up in a musically rich household where each sibling studied a different instrument. Encouraged by her mother—who immigrated from Korea and set aside her own artistic dreams—Elle began violin lessons at the age of three. Initially trained in the Suzuki method, she later transitioned to a traditional approach, which introduced her to chamber music and orchestral playing. These early experiences shaped her identity as a musician and led her to join the Music Institute of Chicago Academy, a prestigious pre-conservatory program.

As Elle matured musically, she discovered a deep love for collaboration through chamber music. Performing with small ensembles became one of the most rewarding parts of her journey, allowing her to share musical ideas and build strong connections with fellow players. A highlight of her experience was traveling to South Bend, Minnesota, and Chicago with her chamber group—an experience she cherishes for both its artistic growth and camaraderie.

Looking ahead, Elle hopes to pursue a career in orchestral performance. With support from the Anthony Quinn Foundation, she will attend the Aspen Music Festival and School this summer, where she anticipates refining her skills, gaining professional experience, and forming meaningful musical relationships.
