Jaison Maxwell
2025 Visual Arts Scholarship Recipient
Jaison, a dedicated young designer from Charlotte, North Carolina, discovered his love for fashion in preschool through imaginative play with Barbies. Since then, his passion has matured into a focused commitment to couture design, creating garments that celebrate the diverse forms of women while expressing his distinct artistic voice. With every pleat, seam, and fabric choice, Jaison brings his visions to life—transforming materials into statements of beauty and individuality.
His dedication to the craft is evident in his growing experience. Jaison has showcased his designs in five fashion shows, including Mecklenburg International Fashion Week and events hosted by the Charlotte Fashion Collective. His work has also earned commissions and a place in his school’s annual art gallery exhibition, where he continues to push boundaries in design and detail through the costume design program.
Supported by the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Jaison will attend SCAD’s Fashion Design Pre-College Program this summer, a pivotal step in his journey. He looks forward to sharpening his technical skills, refining his creative process, and preparing for a future at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he hopes to major in fashion design and minor in fashion marketing.
