Wickliffe Simmons at Northwestern University
Wick Simmons recently released a video performance of Ravel's Kaddish with the Northwestern University Cello Ensemble, sponsored by Ovation Press.
Wick will be graduating from Northwestern University in June 2017, after studying with Hans Jørgen Jensen. This summer, he will be a young artist in residence at Bang on a Can's Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA. Wick will be continuing his studies with Fred Sherry in the Contemporary Performance Program at the Manhattan School of Music in Fall 2017.
Wick was awarded 3rd place in the 2017 Thaviu String Competition. Wick has also attended the Heifetz Institute, the senior division of Pinchas Zukerman's Young Artists Programme, the PyeongChang Summer Music Festival in South Korea, and the Kronberg Academy in Germany. In 2013, Wick performed on National Public Radio's From The Top show with Christopher O'Riley. He also starred and produced a music video featuring cello and contemporary dance on a "re-imagining" of the band, Imagine Dragon's 'Radioactive.' Wick was the string division winner of the 2016 Yamaha National Young Performing Artists Competition.
